    Land Values

    Hi,

I am using DIVA to assess the impact of sea level rise on Canada's coasts. I am having trouble finding information on how land is valued in DIVA? The documentation that accompanies DIVA states that dry land loss value is based on agricultural land value and unmanaged lands are valued at half of that. Is there somewhere I can find the exact figures used and is it possible to change land value in DIVA? Is land valued at the country, administrative unit or coastline segment level?

My concern is that land in the arctic is being valued at the same rate (or even half the rate) of agricultural land and this may significantly affect adaptation strategies.

     Thank you in advance,

     Monika Drozdz

    Re: Land Values

    Hi Monika,

In the downloads section you can find a paper on costing and adaptation by Richard Tol. It contains a formula used to derive the land value based on the value of the product. If you have any further questions on this subject please contact Richard Tol. richard.tol(at)esri.ie is the last e-mail adress I have (replace (at) by @).

     Kind regards,

     Poul
